June 2 at 1:00   3 pages of Abstract Backgrounds Class #1 $45

In this class we will be making three abstract art journaling pages for the price of one! Pages will be divided into one hour sessions and have different themes. Page one will contain splattered paint using a verity of methods to our white journal page. For page two we will make a layered abstract painting on sheet of mixed media paper and then punch out circles. Then add it to our blank journal page. Finally page three we will be adding butterflies to a two-page spread! Join me for a jam-packed adventure using mixed media.

Supplies List:

  • 5×8 Dylusions journal
  • Acrylic paints or distress paints (inexpensive 4-6 colors + black and white)
  • Dylusions spray inks (2-3 colors)
  • Selection of paint brushes (#2, #4, round and flat if you got it)
  • Fine point sharpie
  • Glue sticks (Elmer’s craft bond extra strength is great!)
  • Scissors
  • Baby wipes

The Print-tasticular: Gelli Printing Mini Album $55

  In this class we will be making a 8×11 ½” mini art journal where you are the artist of your own designer paper creations using the famous Gelli Arts plate! You will discover how to create a beautiful abstract mono-prints and turn them into a beautiful book! The book can be used for what ever your heart desires such as art journaling, scrapbooking mini album, recipe book, or journal. You will learn how to fold and create a book from a 30×22 ½” sheet of print making paper. Then we will be making multiple prints on our fine arts paper then adding a texture, doodling, and an image and constructing our own covers to our one of a kind book.

Make sure you bring an apron! We will be painting up a storm!

Page two add masking tape to the blank background and cover with inks, paints, textures, doodles then remove the tape. Page three add a silhouette figure to the background using Dylusions inks then decorate the page. You will have a blast in this class using Dyan Reaveley’s Dylusions and other mixed media products!

In this art journaling page we will be creating a Dina Wakley inspired page using one of her newest stamp sets “scribbly birds”. Each student will be provided with a kit that has pre-stamped images from the set (the stamp is not included). We will have fun creating our little birdies with paint, inks, and pens while making a textured background.  All the birdies will be singing when they see this pretty page.

Supplies List:

  • 5×8 Dylusions journal

Draw a Self Portrait with Prismacolor Pencils

Art journaling with color pencils

Students will learn how to create a self-portrait drawing by doing a graphite photo transfer. A graphite photo transfer is a fun and easy way to make a beautiful painting that you can show off to your friends and family without the hassle of a grid. Students will draw a face on drawing paper, then color it using Prismacolor pencils. In this class you will learn how to combine and layer color pencils to make skin tones as well how to shade the human face.

  • (1)8×10 color picture of you on photo paper.

Tip (select an image that is only of the face to collar bone, try to avoid images with hands and accessories. Having hair down in the picture makes for and easy drawing for the ladies)

  •  (1) Color print of the same 8×10 picture of you
  • on copy paper. (this will be used to make the graphic transfer)
  • Staedtler mechanical eraser
  • Eraser

Decorate Your Art Journal Cover

Lets decorate our art journal covers by using a popular style while using mixed media, collage, paint, doodle and add repurposed materials. We will be using a stencil from Crafter’s Workshop Templates 12-Inch by 12-Inch, Flower Frenzy to make this beautiful journal cover.

Supplies list:

  • 5×8 Dylusions journal.
  • Apron
  • Acrylic paints or distress paints (inexpensive 4-6 colors + black and white. I will have some to share.)
  • White gesso
  • Modeling paste (inexpensive)
  • Gel medium or mod podge (matte)
  • Selection of paint brushes (#2, #4, round and flat if you got it)
  • Old synthetic paint brush or inexpensive brush (flat)
  • Palette knife
  • Dylusions spray inks (2-3 colors)
  • Sharpie
  • Stamps with textures, butterflies, birds (I will have some to share, if you have some bring them)
  • Water proof black ink pad
  • Stencils with textures and shapes (I will have some to share)
  • Glue sticks (Elmer’s craft bond extra strength is great!)

Create a 12×12 scrapbook page layout using a selection of mixed media products and techniques. You will design a page composition with a focal point on two opposite sides of the page. We will be adding color to white cardstock, then adding a photo, Graphic 45s Couture paper and embellishments to the piece. This class is a fun way to add something different to your scrapbooking albums and enjoy for years to come!

Come join me in making a mixed media collage page in a 5×8 Dylusions art journal. We will be using scrap paper from all of your left over scrapbook projects and repurposing them. Experience using a range of products such as home made water color sprays, acrylic paints, modeling paste, Dylusions spray inks, Faber Castell Gelatos, stampers big brush pens, stamps and stencils. Students will get to play and experiment with a range of media, while creating a colorful page. Art journaling is a fun non-stressful experience, no skills necessary. Lets create something beautiful together.
